Speaking on the occasion, he expressed concern over the measures being taken to prevent road accidents in the district. He ordered the officials concerned to carry out repairs on war footing with the help of sarpanch respective villages as roads were filled with potholes in many areas in the district due to the recent rains and floods.

The Collector said lighting could be set up at black spots by using the funds available under Palle Prakruthi Vanams and gram panchayats. He directed Panchayat Raj and R&B officials to take steps to prevent accidents by making the road look clear at turning points by removing weeds and useless plants along with R&B and Panchayat Raj officials.

The officials concerned were directed to take temporary steps as per local conditions to prevent road accidents.

SP AV Ranganath stated that along with the police, people's representatives and officials of all departments have to give suggestions about the steps to be taken to reduce accidents considerably at black spots where most mishaps have been taking place. He said caution boards play key role in preventing vehicles' speed. It is the duty of everyone to save the lives of people in road accidents by following traffic rules without fail.

The DIG had directed the police officers to continue continuous monitoring for road safety by a special police officer. Expressing concern over the record of highest number of road accidents and deaths in Chittal police station area, he urged Chittal municipal administration and local officials to take necessary steps to control road accidents.
