According to Devarkadra Sub inspector of Police Venkateshwarlu, it is said that in Dokur Village Ramakrishna Reddy from TRS and Ram Bhupal Reddy from BJP stood for the contest of MPTC seat. However, while during the election campaigning earlier, the TRS party contestant's brother Srikanth Reddy entered into an altercation with one BJP activists PremKumar Srikanth Reddy and both had a small fight over an issue of sticking of poster on the walls belonging to the house of Premkumar. Keeping this in mind Srikanth Reddy bore a grudge against Premakumar and was waiting for the right time to eliminate him.

On Tuesday after the conclusion of the counting, the BJP contestant had won against the TRS party's nominee and to celebrate the victory the candidates were conducting a victory rally in Dokur village. However, late in the night the BJP activists were intercepted by the TRS activists and both entered into heated arguments and in the melee, the TRS activists Srikanth Reddy who had brought with him a knife attacked Premkumar and stabbed him causing grave injuries.

The severely injured Premkumar was immediately shifted to Mahbubnagar hospital, however by the time he could reach to the hospital he breathed his last and declared brought dead by the doctors.

With this, the police officials, who were all about to breath a sigh of relief over the peaceful conduct of elections in the district woke-up and immediately alerted by the district administration and had deployed more forces in the village to ensure no untoward incident occurs further. "We received a call late in the night regarding the murder case, we immediately swung into action and deployed necessary force in the village to ensure the situation does not escalate. We have booked a case and launched a thorough investigation. Very soon we will take the culprits into custody," said SI Venkateshwarlu.
