CP Anjani Kumar urges cab operators to ensure safe transportation for women
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Thursday held a meeting with the management and officials of cab operators in Hyderabad in connection with providing safe and secure transportation for women.
Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Thursday held a meeting with the management and officials of cab operators in Hyderabad in connection with providing safe and secure transportation for women.
Addressing them, the CP said that any crime which happens in the public place creates more panic in the society. In such circumstances, he advised the cab drivers not to indulge in any activity which will become news against them and further affects their business also.
Anjani Kumar has directed the cab providers to follow measures to be taken for the safety and security of women while travelling in cabs and asked them to provide an SOS button in the car which is connected to the Command Control Room, Hawk Eye and Dial 100 and fix it in visible place. Fix a digital sticker with information regarding Dial 100, 112 and SOS details in cabs, he stated.
The cab providers must verify the antecedents of the drivers before employing them in the job. Also, a mechanism should be in place to keep a check on the drivers as to where they are going after parking their vehicles, he mentioned.
Anjani Kumar has informed the cab providers not to ignore the complaints and feedback given by the passengers and they should be probed thoroughly.
"The database of the drivers' data should be maintained and same has to be revealed in any case of emergency. As per the act, all cab operators shall install the provision of vehicle location tracking device and emergency button in vehicles," he stated.
The CP also emphasised that the Dial 100 and Hawk Eye has to be popularised because it is backed up with support of about 1,000 patrol cars in Hyderabad.
A digital poster containing contact numbers of Hyderabad city police, Dial 100, She teams, Hawk Eye etcetera will be supplied to the cab operators for display in cabs. He further said that it is the duty of all of us to create better society.
