Karimnagar: Disrespecting law is equal to indulgence in corruption, stated District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, at a programme on International Anti-Corruption Day at the Collectorate auditorium in Karimnagar on Monday. The weeklong programmes of International Anti-Corruption Day, which is on Monday (December 9), concluded.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Sarfaraz said everyone should behave with responsibility to bring change in the society to stop corruption. Now-a-days many cases of dowry harassment are being registered, though both giving and taking dowry is corruption, he pointed out.

"Instead of pointing at one section of people, one must think how much fair he/she is. How many people are following the traffic rules while going on the road? How many parents are creating awareness about the society to their children? Most of the people speak about corruption when they are jobless. But once they got job, they will become silent, Why? He questioned.

Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy said the government employees must feel lucky to have the chance to serve the people. If service to people is done perfectly, then only the nation will lead towards development, he added.

Local artistes sang songs against corruption. Later, Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed distributed prizes to the students, who won in the competitions organised on the occasion of Anti-Corruption weeklong celebrations.

Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal, DRO Praveenya, Special Officer Rajarshi Shah, ZP CEO Venkat Madhav Rao, Anti-Corruption Department DSP Bhadraiah, Municipal Commissioner Gopal Reddy, ACB Public Prosecutor Laxmi Prasad and Lok Satta leader Srinivas, ACB inspector Venu Gopal, Sanjeev, Ravinder and Ramu were present along with others.
