Kothagudem: District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini has appealed to the young voters to create awareness among masses about the importance of voting in the elections.

He said the right to vote was the most important aspect of democratic system.

The Election Commission of India has been making serious efforts to create awareness on right to vote at village level.

One has to elect a government that offers a quality and honest governance for five years, he said.

The Collector along with the ITDA Project Officer VP Goutham addressed the students from various colleges at Young Voters Conclave, organised here on Tuesday.

Several topics including ethical voting, c-Vigil app and others were discussed.

"One should not degrade the value of vote for the sake of temporary benefits.

Few decades ago, the right to vote was treated as most valuable right.

But, the situation has now become worrisome as people are failing to recognise the value of vote," Saini said.

The Collector told the voters to not to abstain from voting and treat the polling day as a holiday.

Every eligible voter must vote to elect a government of his/her choice, he added.

The speakers at the conclave stressed on the need of use of c-Vigil app to complain about model code of conduct violations to the officials concerned.

A power point presentation on the topics in the agenda was also made.

The Collector and the ITDA PO handed over badges to the students appointed as SVEEP Campus Ambassadors.
