Godavari at 31 ft in Bhadrachalam
Due to heavy rains in the catchment area, floodwater reached Godavari river raising the level to 31 feet at Bhadrachalam on Tuesday.
Bhadrachalam: Due to heavy rains in the catchment area, floodwater reached Godavari river raising the level to 31 feet at Bhadrachalam on Tuesday.
The water level in Godavari was to 26 feet at 6 am and it reached 31 feet by 6 pm, according to officials. Since the flowing water has reached the steps of Pushkar ghats, devotees have been advised not to take holy bath in Godavari.
The District Administration is taking all precautionary measures to avoid any eventualities. District Collector Rajath Kumar appointed sectorial officers in all mandals to monitor floods. Buffer stocks of essentials are being readied in all mandal offices.
If the water level continues to raise and reach 43 feet, the official would sound first warning, at 48 feet second warning and at 53 feet final warning.
With the current inflows, officials are expressing concern that the first warning level may be reached by Wednesday evening.
