Guest lecturers demand regularisation of services in musheerabad

Musheerabad: State committee of guest lecturers' association demanded that services of the guest faculty, who have been working in Gurukul Junior Colleges be made permanent and implement 'equal work, equal pay' as ruled by the Supreme Court judgement.

The State committee held a meeting here at Vidyanagar on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, national president of BC welfare association, R Krishnaiah said that as many as 190 guest lecturers have been working in Gurukul Junior Colleges for the last five years and receiving meagre salaries.

Despite High Court ruling that 'equal work-equal payment' be implemented to them, the government has not implemented it, he said.

The lecturers have been striving to maintain the standards of education at junior colleges, but the government has not come forward to regularise their services, he said.

Referring to the Supreme Court ruling on regularising the temporary employees, he said that there were no legal hurdles in making their services permanent as several states such as Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Karnataka and West Bengal, have already regularised services of all contract employees working in their states.

Krishnaiah said that TRS party has promised in its election manifesto to regularise the services of 2.5 lakh temporary employees and all the employees along with their family members campaigned for it in the recent assembly elections.

Terming their demand as just one, he said the government should come forward to make their services permanent.

Among those who participated in the meeting include BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Neela Venkatesh, Syed Ghouse, Shekhar, Lingaiah, Anji, Ramakrishna and others.
