Toopran: In another incident of flouting rules by a civil contractor, two poor buffaloes died leaving the farmer helpless. The incident happened some days ago, but the farmer did not get any compensation.

The farmer A Shankaraih said the road, on which his deceased animals used to go daily was suddenly elevated to some height over the night. By result, the transformer is now on the road.

As there was no fencing and protection, the two buffaloes were electrocuted, he lamented. His wife Lakshmi said they incurred a loss of about two lakh rupees. "It is a sheer negligence of road contractor," she said.

She demanded authorities to set up fence around the transformer. When contacted, AE Venkateshwarlu said the contractor did not inform him about the roadwork. Because of that the live wires carelessly remained on ground. Meanwhile, the poor farmer couple are waiting for help apart from action against the contractor.
