Harassed by hostel warden, teenager attempts suicide in Mahabubabad
A Class IX student attempted suicide by consuming anti-allergy lotion at his hostel room in Thorrur mandal on Wednesday.
Mahabubabad: A Class IX student attempted suicide by consuming anti-allergy lotion at his hostel room in Thorrur mandal on Wednesday.
The boy has been identified as Ragi Pelli Shiva Kumar of Arya Bhatta School. The boy's family members alleged that Shiva attempted suicide only due to harassment by the hostel warden.
After Dasara holidays, Shiva returned to the hostel on Monday. It's learnt that the warden allegedly beat Shiva with a stick when he wanted to call his mother on Tuesday night. Depressed over the incident, Shiva attempted suicide, parents alleged.
Boy's father Mallaiah is a daily wage worker in Hyderabad. According to information, Shiva was admitted to a private hospital in the mandal.
Mallaiah said that the incident took place due to the negligence of the school management. We have approached the police and filed a case against the hostel warden, Mallaiah said.
Meanwhile, president of the Balala Hakula Sangham, Achutya Rao, demanded the District Collector to take stringent action against the hostel warden and the school management for violating child rights and creating circumstances that forced a minor boy to attempt suicide. According to the police, the investigation is on.
