The incident took place at Thurkshlapuram of Gundala mandal in Yadadri-Bhongir district on Friday. The deceased were identified as K Suraiah and his 65-year-old wife Manikyamma.
According to police and the locals, Suraiah attacked Manikyamma, working as an attender at the local Anganwadi centre, with a knife when she was taking a nap at the centre.
It is learnt that the old couple have been living separately for the last few months due to financial differences and used to frequently quarrel. Suraiah, an alcoholic, arrived at the Anganwadi centre and stabbed Manikyamma to death.
