Miyapur: Serilingampally MLA and Government Whip Arekapudi Gandhi on Tuesday inspected the Rs 12-crore beautification works of Patel Cheruvu. Addressing officials, he admitted that there was a delay in the execution of work because of problems arising out of court cases, while advising them to complete the task in the ensuing summer and to speed up keeping in view the monsoon. The MLA asked the officials to provide a walking/cycling track around the water body and toilet facilities.

He assured local people that a welcome atmosphere would be created around the water body, while stressing that it was everyone's responsibility to protect such tanks and to ensure that they were not encroached.

Gandhi assured the officials that the administration would ensure tanks were not polluted and encroached. He said a fence would be installed around the cheruvu after the beautification work was completed under the Mission Kakatiya scheme. "All water bodies in Serilingampally constituency would be beautified and all steps taken to protect them," the legislator assured.

Among those who accompanied the MLA were Miyapur TRS division president Uppalapati Srikanth, Madhapur division head Erlagudla Srinivas Yadav and contractor Srinivas.
