Hyderabad: Burglars have found a new modus operandi in the Covid times. It is a known fact to everyone that the lockdown was implemented by the government of Telangana to control the spread of deadly virus, but very few knew that the lockdown could not prevent the intentions of burglars.

According to police sources, the burglars have adopted the new modus operandi of breaking into the houses of the families who were admitted to hospital because the entire family was supposed to undergo treatment for at least 2 weeks. A similar incident which happened in Alwal has given nightmare to the family. The person who did not wish to be named said that, their entire family was tested positive of Covid-19 and were admitted to hospital on May 12 and were discharged on May 26.

But to their dismay, when they arrived at their house, they were shocked because the entire gold, cash, laptops, tablets, watches; electronic goods were stolen from their residence. The family then immediately lodged a police complaint, which then arrived at the scene of offence and registered an FIR.

According to Alwal police, this is the first incident in Alwal PS limits, a case has been registered and special teams have been formed to investigate the matter and nab the culprits. Another officer from Amberpet PS said, "In our PS there were two such cases which were reported wherein the families were admitted to a hospital for treatment and their houses were burgled. We have registered the cases and investigation is going on."

An IPS officer on condition of anonymity said, "Yes, it's true that the burglars were also facing the heat of the moment due to lockdown as many residents were staying in their homes and the burglars did not get any chance to break into any houses. However, they have come up with the new modus operandi wherein they targeted the families which were admitted to hospital."

"Our preliminary investigations revealed that, they might have done recee of the entire area and found out which family is locking their doors and getting admitted to the hospital. Based on their information, they have committed the offence. However, we are positive that, we will arrest them at the earliest based on the complaints lodged with us," added the officer.
