Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) leaders are expecting major decisions on the organisational affairs at the meeting called by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on November 16.

The AICC has informed the State leaders on Wednesday about the meeting. The message said that a meeting of the AICC general secretaries, secretaries, PCC presidents and leaders of CLPs has been convened on November 16 at Delhi.

Party leaders said that high command may discuss various issues along with organisational matter and take decisions on strengthening the party. The high command may also guide the party on the way to follow in the near future.

According to party leadership, the membership drive would be discussed in the party prominently.

The AICC may ask the State leaders to take the membership drive in next month to strengthen the organisation.

AICC secretary Vamsichand Reddy told The Hans India that the membership drive may figure in the deliberations. He said that a pilot project on the paperless membership has been taken up in Goa, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.

He said that the AICC may tell the State party chiefs to take up the membership drive and enrol a maximum number of members. It may also issue guidelines on the membership programme.

He said that along with the membership issue, the high command may discuss the national affairs with all the leaders. Elections in Jharkhand and other States may be discussed. The high command may also discuss the measures to be taken up to strengthen the party at all the levels.

They said that the high command may review the State units' performance in the nationwide agitation against the economic policies of the NDA government that started on November 5.

However, the nationwide programme against the economic policies of the NDA government being proposed on November 16 may be postponed as all the leaders of the State units would be in Delhi on the same day.

From Telangana four secretaries Madhu Yaski, Vamsichand Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao, SA Sampath Kumar, PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka would participate in the AICC meeting.
