Hyderabad : The Telangana State Minorities Commission (TSMC) disposed of 83 per cent of petitions received in the last two years from January 3, 2018 to February 5, 2020.

During the 26th monthly meeting of the commission held at its office on Wednesday, chairman, Mohammed Qamaruddin informed that the TSMC received a total of 1,004 petitions and disposed of 862 from beginning of 2018 till end of 2019. And starting from this year, it has received 49 petitions and a total of 20 were disposed of by Wednesday.

During the meeting, the commission also discussed the proposed two-day All India conference to be organised by Minorities Commission. The meeting would be attended by chairmen and members of different State Minority Commissions from across the country. The conference is likely to be conducted in the last week of March. "The chairman and members have unanimously decided to address the government intimating the intention of the Commission to conduct conference of Minorities Commission all over India," the chairman said.

The meeting was attended by vice chairman, B Shanker Luke, members, Gusti Noria, Surender Singh and others. Earlier during the day, the Commission conducted hearing of case pertaining to Parsi Aaramghar graveyard land located in Kanteshwar village of Nizamabad.

Member, Gusti Noria, advisors to the Commission, P Pannaga Sai, Farooq Ali Khan, MA Khadeer Siddiqui, and personal secretary, T Gopal Rao, attended the hearing. K Venkataiah, RDO Nizamabad, Neela Kantham, Tahsildar, Ratan, DMWO Nizamabad also attended the hearing and submitted a detailed report regarding the changes occurred in Revenue Records in the name of Tarla Sayanna and others from the name of Firozsha the original pattedar. The petitioner, Omim Maneckshaw Debara was also present. The chairman after hearing adjourned the case to February 29 with a direction to maintain status quo in the matter until further orders.
