The 6th 'Little Children Heart Surgery' camp was organised at Prathima Medical College in Karimnagar from January 26 to February 1, with the initiation taken by State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Boinapally Vinod Kumar, the camp was organised under Prathima Foundation in association with Healing Little Hearts of London Dr Ramana Dhannapuneni, who belongs to Jagtial district.

Minister E Rajendar, City Municipal Commissioner Y Sunil Rao and British Deputy Commissioner Andrew Flemming were the chief guests at the concluding ceremony of the camp.

It is the first of its kind in both Telugu speaking States, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to organise a camp for conducting heart surgeries to children in the medical college. Till date, as many as 600 open heart surgeries, 2,500 Angioplasty, stunts and pacemaker surgeries were conducted along with three critical surgeries in the Prathima Medical College.

In the six-day camp, as many as 750 children were tested positive to heart disease and surgeries were conducted for 18 children. In previous camps, about 72 children undergone surgery.

Prathima Foundation Chairperson and Prathima Educational Institutions Chairman Boinapally Srinivas Rao decided to organise more such camps in the coming days with the cooperation of State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman B Vinod Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, British Deputy Commissioner Andrew Flemming said that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting various countries, India's relations with foreign countries are increasing, which is helping to conduct such camps with ease in India.

Prathima Medical College Dean Dr Vivekananda, Dr Ravinder Rao, DME Medical Superintendent Dr John Israel, Executive Officer Ramachandra Rao, team of London doctors Dr Ramana Dhannapuneni, Dr Harini, Dr Ravinder Reddy, Dr LSR Prasad, Dr Ashish, Dr Nikhil, Dr Daljith Arora, Dr Chennadi Amith and Dr Pratheek and others participated in the camp.
