Karimnagar: Raksha Bandhan, festival which signifies sister's love and protection for her brother, was celebrated across the district on Thursday. Women and girls continued their shopping to buy beautiful rachis to tie to their brothers had continued from Wednesday to Thursday afternoon.

Women performed special pujas in temples for the wellbeing of their brothers. As a responsible citizen, a few of the women and girls presented saplings to their brothers requesting them to plant them and to protect them until it grows into a plant.

Heavy rush was seen at kiosks selling colourful rakhis of various shapes and sizes. Sweet stalls witnessed heavy turnout of customers especially women and girls. The chicken and mutton shops also witnessed heavy rush.
