Jangaon: Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) chief Prof Kodandaram demanded Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's image on the currency. He said that Ambedkar's book 'Problem of the Rupee – Its Origin and Its Solution' has influenced the then British rulers in the conceptualisation of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Speaking at a rally organised by the Ambedkar Photo Sadhana Samithi, here, on Saturday, the TJS chief said that Ambedkar's book depicted the problems faced by Indian currency and argued for the stabilisation of monetary affairs and exchange rates during British Raj and it eventually led to the formation of RBI.

Babasaheb, a multi-faceted personality as an economist, politician and social reformer who advocated political rights and social freedom for Dalits deserves his photo on Indian currency. Further, Prof Kodandaram demanded the Central government to print Babasaheb's image on new currency notes. Ambedkar Photo Sadhana national president Jeripothula Parashuram, Parliamentary in-charge Girimalle Raju, district president Puli Sekhar, dalit leaders Kodam Kumar, Ramesh, B Venkatesh, M Stalin, G Raju, B Ravi, M Ramesh, Abhinav, Yellesh and Chintu were among others present.

Earlier in the day, Prof Kodandaram met morning walkers and sought their vote in his favour in the ensuing election to the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates Constituency Council seat.
