The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) which held a meeting on Thursday alloted 29 tmc of water for Telangana and 17.5 tmc for Andhra Pradesh.

The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) which held a meeting on Thursday alloted 29 tmc of water for Telangana and 17.5 tmc for Andhra Pradesh.

The meeting was presided by RK Jain, the in-charge chairman of KRMB and was attended by member secretary Harikesh Meena, Engineers-in-Chief of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh C. Muralidhar and M. Venkateswara Rao and other engineers. The board in the meeting assessed the availability of water and allocated it based on the indents submitted by both the states.

As on March 11, the availability of water in Srisailam is at 18 tmc and 33 tmc in Nagarjuna Sagar. Of the total 51 tmc, Telangana has been allocated with 29 tmc as it not utilised its full share for Kharif.

Telangana will get 3.5 tmc for Mission Bhagiratha from Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme till August end, 5 tmc for Mission Bhagiratha from Nagarjunasagar project till August end, 8.5 tmc to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply for drinking water needs till August end, 3 tm for feeding tanks under Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project and 9 tmc for saving Rabi crop under Nagarjunasagar left canal.
