Lack of emergency care at Gadwal government hospital worries people
The patients visiting the Jogulamba Gadwal district hospital are facing tough time, as the hospital lacks facilities for emergency care
Gadwal: The patients visiting the Jogulamba Gadwal district hospital are facing tough time, as the hospital lacks facilities for emergency care.
Unlike earlier where the patients in emergency from surrounding Gadwal district used to visit Kurnool for better treatment facilities, after the coronavirus outbreak people are not allowed to go to Kurnool, and are forced to visit Gadwal district hospital, but with no proper facilities in the hospital, patients are facing tough time.
The major problems in the hospital is that if anyone with major accident happens to visit the hospital there are not diagnostic and proper treatment equipment in the hospital. "There is no CT scan facility and there is no proper blood bank to provide blood for the patients in emergency. In the dialysis centre the patients are struggling to get even proper drinking water. In the gynecology department, the hospital has no specialist doctor.
With all these issues the Gadwal district hospital is just serving as name sake district hospital as the patients with emergency care are either sent to Wanaparthy or Mahbubnagar for treatment," said Srinitha, a lawyer, who is fighting the case of a pregnant women who had died recently.
The people of Gadwal are urging the government that at least during the lockdown period upgrade the Gadwal area hospital to district hospital level and provide all necessary healthcare facilities to serve the patients in emergency.
It is alleged that though the hospital is having adequate staff to meet the current healthcare demand, however, delay in the appointment of specialist doctors is causing lot of damage for the patients of the district.
"Non-availability of blood and lack CT Scan facility at the hospital is forcing the patients to visit Wanaparthy or Mahbubnagar hospitals. There is also dearth of ambulance facilities at the government district hospital. The gynecology department is the worst department having no proper facilities for the pregnant women, because of which they are forced to visit private hospitals.
