Gangipalli Chukkaiah was cutting the branches of the tree near Hussainimia stream and selling them. The village sarpanch, Kusukuntla Manga who learned about Chukkaiah alerted the Panchayat Raj officials. The officials warned the man and imposed a fine of Rs 8,000.

In October, a man was fined of Rs 25,000 for chopping the tree at LB Nagar in Hyderabad. The man is said to have cut down the trees near his home following which the locals brought the issue to notice of MP Santosh who later alerted the Mayor Bonthu Rammohan.

The Mayor directed the GHMC officials to initiate action against the man. A team of officials inspected the spot and fined Rs 25,000.
