Nagarkurnool: District Collector E Sridhar, who conducted a surprise visit to nurseries in Kondareddypally, Tippareddypally and Vangoor villages of Vangoor mandal in Nagarkurnool district expressed his displeasure over the way the nurseries were being maintained and at the slow pace of works going on there.

The district has set a target of growing more than 40 lakh plant saplings by June end this year. However, the works going at the rural nurseries in the district are not at all satisfactory. While inspecting the nursery at Tippareddypally, the Collector observed that the workers were filling the polythene covers with red mud and not using manure.

The Collector called up on the concerned MPDO and expressed his displeasure. He warned the MPDO as to why only red mud was being filled and no manure. "I am really unhappy the way the works at the rural nurseries are going on. At least now, the officials must pull up their socks and take it seriously or else I will be forced to take action against them," said the Collector.

The Collector directed the MPDO and other mandal level officials and Sarpanches and Panchayat secretaries to visit every village on a daily basis and take stock of the works being taken up at the nurseries.
