Wanaparthy: The KVPS, SFI, DYFI and AIDWA district leaders, including Bhagat, Adi, Mahesh, Kavitha, Renuka, and Uma, demanded that the affected family be provided with Rs 20 lakhs ex-gratia and a family member be given a government job for support.

Speaking at the students’ protest in which the victim’s family members participated the AIDWA emphasised that, according to government rules, hostel wardens should remain in the hostel daily, from morning until the students go to bed, to monitor them properly. They urged MLAs, district collectors, and public representatives to stay overnight at the hostels as part of their oversight duties.

However, the wardens, according to the leaders, draw monthly salaries without supervising students adequately, relying instead on unauthorised persons to monitor the hostels, which has led to such unfortunate incidents. They accused district-level welfare hostel supervisors of neglecting their duties, resulting in severe issues such as food poisoning and health problems among students.
