Special awareness drive for farmers
District Collector Ayesha Masrat Khanam said that special awareness camps for the farmers would be organised to sensitise them in preventing the crops from the pests.
Vikarabad: District Collector Ayesha Masrat Khanam said that special awareness camps for the farmers would be organised to sensitise them in preventing the crops from the pests. She said that the farmers in the district show interest to grow cotton and corn in 48,000 hectares in the months of June.
Speaking to the media, here on Wednesday, the Collector said farmers of these crops were often incur losses due to two types of pests. Special awareness camps by the agriculture officers to explain the farmers how to contain these pests are going to be organised, she said.
Not just farmers, the camps are also organised for farmer coordination committee members, buyers of the crops, the Collector said. She assured that special steps will be taken to contain spurious seed. District Agriculture Officer Gopal along with staff was present.
