Telangana Cong divided over outcome of AP polls
- Party leaders are expressing divergent views on prospects of YSRCP and TDP
- A section of the party feels that results will have a direct bearing on the future of the Congress in Telangana State
Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders are divided over the outcome of the Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh. While a section of the leaders predict victory for the Telugu Desam Party, another section speculates that YSR Congress party will triumph.
The leaders, who are expecting the Telugu Desam Party to win, have felt that the schemes being implemented by the government will ensure its success
On the other hand, the leaders, who are predicting victory for the YSR Congress, the anti-incumbency factor will benefit th party. Those, who remain neutral, say the fight is too close to predict.
The results of Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections have become topic of discussion among the leaders of Telangana Congress. They have been discussing the outcome of the polls in AP rather than the results of Parliament elections in Telangana State.
The outcome of the elections in Andhra Pradesh, the leaders feel, will have a direct bearing on the prospects of the Congress party and the TDP in Telangana State. A defeat for TDP in AP Assembly polls may spell doom for that party in Telangana State.
If TDP wins, it could sustain the onslaught of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana State, it is felt.
Already several TDP leaders have left the party and joined either the Congress or the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana State. Quite a few leaders are still with TDP and they may take decision on their political future after the announcement of results of Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh.
A leader of Congress said the defeat of YSR Congress will benefit the party in Telangana State. The leader said that some leaders of Telangana Congress are fans of YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. They are wishing success for Jagan in AP polls.
Jagan's win in AP will strengthen that party in Telangana State and a few leaders of Telangana Congress may joint YSR Congress. This will cause damage to the Congress in Telangana State.
Leaders of Congress said that a section of the Telangana Congress has been supporting the TRS in Telangana as the TRS is maintaining friendly relations with YSR Congress.
Defeat of YSR Congress in AP elections will bring them back to Congress leading to its strengthening here. The MIM is also supporting the YSR Congress and this is the reason for a few sections of the Muslims for supporting the TRS.
If YSRC loses the elections in AP, they may also come back to Congress in Telangana State.
Interestingly the Telangana Congress leaders have no hopes on resurgence of Congress in Andhra Pradesh. But a few leaders are hoping against the hope that the party may win at least in one seat in AP polls.
