Hyderabad: BJP Telangana Chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar demanded the State government, to take stringent action against the contractor and those responsible, for the breach to the Kondapochamamma canal.

The Karimnagar MP on Tuesday said the State government has earned the dubious distinction of being a "government of breaches" by compromising quality in the execution of project works.

Sanjay Kumar said that earlier similar incidents have taken place in case of Mid Manair, Mallanna Sagar, Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). Now, the same is repeated in case of Kondapochamma canal, he added.

The BJP MP said that people in adjacent areas of the irrigation projects are living in fear due to such repeated incidents of breach of canals and leakages to the irrigation works.

Adding, "One can imagine the sorry state of affairs regarding the quality of irrigation works, when the situation, none other than the Chief Minister's Assembly constituency itself is scary for the people to live."

He said that the breach to the Kondapochamma canal is a classic example to the "schemes for scams" and the State government should own the responsibility for all such incidents, he demanded. He alleged the repeat of such incidents exposes the unholy alliances between those in the power with the contractors.

The BJP leader demanded revocation of licences given to the contractors who have executed under quality works and take stringent action against them. Besides, recovering the funds from the erring contractors and immediately take up repair works.
