Transparent administration in GHMC : Govt to bring in new law

Hyderabad: The GHMC will soon have a new Act so that the Corporation can provide better and transparent administration.
This was indicated on Saturday by MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao. The government proposes to introduce a Bill during the Budget Session incorporating all important aspects of the new Municipal Act in the proposed GHMC Act.
The proposed GHMC Act would help in getting speedy building permissions, improving sanitation, greenery and quick citizen services. It may be mentioned here that the state government had made many changes to the Municipal Act and incorporated new initiatives like grant of building permissions within 21 days. The new Municipal Act would come into effect from April 2.
In addition to this, the proposed new GHMC Act will give top priority to sanitation, greenery, civic services, use of technology and online services, grievance redressal, citizen charter and most importantly corruption-free administration.
As per the new Act, 10 per cent of the budget of the municipality has to be spent on greenery. Reforms in collection of municipal tax is also being examined.
The new GHMC Act, the minister said, would help in better implementation of Telangana state Building Permission Approvals and Self Certification System (TS BPASS).
