Students of the University of Hyderabad staged a protest on Wednesday evening against the administration over the arrest of six students.

The Cyberabad on Tuesday barged into a classroom at the varsity and arrested six students for screening the documentary Ram Ke Naam by Anand Patwardhan. The screening was organised by the All India Students Association (AISA) and the Students' Federation of India (SFI).
The documentary which was banned on YouTube showcases to build a Ram temple at the site of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.
According to the AISA, the University administration initially, agreed for the documentary screening and denied permission. The police were alerted by the University authorities who claimed that the students did not have permission for the screening following which the police detained six students. However, the Gachibowli Police denied the arrest of students.
"No student was arrested, it was usual check after the university alerted the documentary screening without permission. The laptops were seized from students to conduct checks", said R Srinivas, Station Officer.
After checking the laptops, the students were let off, said the police.
