Voter fumes at poll staff after learning that someone cast his vote

Phanigiri (Suryapet): The negligence of elections officials has been once again exposed at a polling booth in Phanigiri Village of Nagaram mandal of Thungathurthi constituency during the second phase of Parishad elections in the district on Friday as the actual voter could not cast his vote.

According to Mogulla Mallaiah of Phanigiri village, he was shocked to learn that someone had already cast a vote in his name. Expressing his angst, Mallaiah questioned the officials as to how could they allow another person to cast his vote? To which the officials simply stated it was a mistake that just happened during the overseeing of poll process.

Speaking to The Hans India, Mallaiah demanded the District Collector to take stringent action against the negligent election staff and further questioned the officials as to how they allowed someone to cast his vote without checking any of the identity cards referred by the Election Commission. He termed the act of polling staff as a mockery of democracy.
