Nothing seems to be going right for Bollywood actor SRK

Nothing seems to be going right for Bollywood actor SRK. He has stayed away from the big screen for quit some time. His movie Zero bombed at the box office and made the actor step back and take stock of the situation. The movie was one of his most ambitious projects on which he had pinned huge hopes. SRK played a dwarf in Zero which starred Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.

Shah Rukh Khan is back with a web series production on Netflix. Betaal which started streaming in the OTT from yesterday is a zombie fantasy series starring Aahana Kumra, Vineet Kumar Sinhh and Suchitra Pillai Malik. So what's Betaal all about? Will it work for the OTT audience? The answer is not very encouraging. You will soon find out why.

Dynamic officer Tyagi played by Suchitra Pillai-alik is entrusted to lead a special task force in the remote naxal regions of Chhattisgarh. Her duty is to tid the place of Naxals to make way for the government to build roads. However, Pllai and her team played by Viineet kumar Singh and Aahana Kumra realise the challenge is not going to be all that easy. Yes, what they thought was cake walk instead becomes a herculean task as the special task force has to battle more than just zombies (the half-dead british personnel).

There are too many errors in the series. As you watch, you wonder what exactly is the USP of this project as the story brings in too many elements to the fore and audience is left to figure out which one to focus on. Even though Betaal is all of four episodes with a duration of 45 minutes each. This Netflix web series is a test of human patince.

Betaal Rating: 2/5
