Srikakulam: With the State Election Commission issued a notification for holding elections to gram panchayats, the officials released caste-wise voters lists in all panchayats in the district.

The district has 1,141 village panchayats and 10,830 wards with a total voters of 19,04,071. Of them, BCs are 14,83,373, SCs 1,60, 273, STs 1,11, 833 and other voters are 1,48, 593. Objections regarding caste-wise voters will be received till June 10 and after due verification, final voters list will be released on June 18. List of polling stations will be announced on June 12.

Objections will be received on polling stations till June 15 and final list of polling stations will be announced on June 20. As per the Election Commission guidelines, one polling station should be arranged for every 650 voters at village-level.

Mandal tahsildar, mandal parishat development officer and village level panchayat secretaries, village revenue officers (VROs) have to prepare voters list and identification of polling stations. As per the Supreme Court guidelines, reservations should not cross 50 per cent in local bodies' elections.
