Vijayawada: The Railways have geared up to resume train services from June 1 after a gap of more than two months, The services came to a grinding halt due to lockdown in the wake of outbreak of coronavirus. In all,14 trains will pass via Railway stations in Vijayawada to various destinations in the country.
The railways will resume Howrah-Secunderabad, Faluknuma Express, Guntur-Secunderabad, Golkonda Express, Bhuvaneswar-Mumbai, Konark Express. Danpur-Bengalur, Sangamitra Express, Visakhapatnam-Delhi, Andhra Pradesh Express, Howrah-Yeshwantpur, Duranto Express and Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Godavari Express. It is expected that a large number of people will avail the train services. As the APSRTC has not resumed the inter-state services like Andhra Pradesh-Telangana, Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh-Karnataka, the train service will help people travel from one State to the other.
The Vijayawada Railway Division is already operating Sramik train services for more than two weeks and these services would be increased from June 1. Vijayawada Railway Junction is one of the biggest in the country. On the other hand, the Railway issued advisory to train passengers for the safety as well as to check the spread of Covid-19 in the country. The railways is strictly implementing the lockdown rules and asking the passengers to follow the guidelines. Thermal screening and wearing of masks is made mandatory.
Rail passengers travelling by special trains should reach their boarding railway station at least 90 minutes ahead departure of the train. Passengers shall not board the trains without an authorised journey ticket. Checks will be conducted to ensure that no unauthorised person enters the railway station premises or board the trains.
During screening, if a passenger is found to be symptomatic of Covid-19 virus, they shall not be allowed to travel. In such a case, full refund of ticket fare will be provided to passengers. No unreserved tickets will be issued for these special trains.
Persons with co-morbidities (hypertension, diabetes, cardio-vascular diseases, cancer, immune deficiency conditions, pregnant women, children below the age of 10 years and persons above 65 years of age) may avoid travel, except if it is essential.
Rail passengers are provided with sanitisers for use at entry and exit points. No linen / blankets etc., will be provided inside the trains and passengers are requested to make their own arrangements.
