Visakhapatnam: A unique match-making event titled as 'Senior Citizen's Jeevan Saathi Sammelan,' exclusively for 50+age group was held at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan here on Sunday.

For the first time an event, one of its kind was organised jointly by Anubandh Foundation and Rizwan Adatia Foundation for Social and Cultural Development, Gujarat. The Foundation believes that the senior citizens are highly disregarded by their dependents.

Henceforth, the team provides an open platform to gather up citizens from all over India and eventually help them to find their ideal match. Divorced, unmarried and widowed candidates from all over India have taken up registration. "We are hosting the event in Andhra Pradesh for the first time.

Around 200 candidates from all over India have attended this event. Nearly, 100 candidates have turned up from Andhra Pradesh," says Radha Devi, vice-president of the Foundation, she further adds "Interestingly, this event saw many youths who brought up their single parents. Although, this match making event is challenging as we are breaking the stereotype.

Most youth do not accept or even consider second marriage for their single parent. Despite the youth providing financial support to their single mom or dad will not help them to cope up with loneliness. Although, most youth fear to share their part of property with new parent. Well, I am here to legally advise them and I also do counselling for them."

For Nathubai Patel, the president of the Foundation, who took up this initiative wayback in 2002 when the Gujarat earthquake took a major turn in the lives of Gujarat residents. As most of them lost their loved ones, keeping that in mind currently, he conducts match-making forum throughout the country.

He says, "We want youth to get their single mom or dad to this forum and understand their problem. Nevertheless, after a certain age every individual seeks companionship for emotional stability." He adds, "There is no age bar for love and compatibility. This event is organised free of cost with no restriction of caste, religion and state."
