Vijayawada: The NSS students of Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology (ALIET) organised a relief programme for flood affected areas in Vijayawada, especially in Krishnalanka and Balaji Nagar areas of the city on Tuesday.
The NSS students surveyed these areas to assess the damage and losses due to the recent floods. The students found that as the flood waters entered the homes, this gave rise to the mosquito menace.
To solve the problem, the NSS students team distributed blankets, mosquito nets, clothes and notebooks to people in the areas. This NSS relief programme was successful only because of generous donations given by both the student and teaching communities.
The entire operation was initiated by the college management, staff and others. Dr A Francis Xavier, Father Chiranjeevi, Principal Dr O Mahesh and K Teja Swarup, Rajesh NSS coordinator and NSS students took part in the flood relief operations.
