The couple committed suicide after the police ignored a complaint of harassment by a Kalmani merchant. According to the victims Vallabhaneni Lakshmi Bhargavi and Bulliah of Tadepalli who make their living by trading fruits and vegetables had borrowed Rs 1.95 lakh from a woman named Battula Durga in the same area two years ago. The victims said they had paid Rs 15,000 under weekend interest and paid up to Rs 10 lakh. They claim Durga asked to give the original cash of Rs 1.95 lakh in this order.

The victims alleged that Durga and three others came to the house and committed atrocities despite asking for some time and claim that they had approached the police three days back, but the police did not take the complaint. However, all these things came up on social media on Wednesday, prompting police to ask victims to come to the station to file a complaint about the incident.

On the other hand, Lakshmi Bhargavi and Bulliah tried to commit suicide by drinking a bottle of phenol from home. Locals and police immediately stopped them. As the incident went viral on various TV channels, including social media, the police received a complaint and registered a case against Durga and three others.an
