Andhra Pradesh Government To Implement New Curriculum For Primary School From Next Academic Year
There is a possibility of updating the syllabus of classes 1 to 5 in Andhra Pradesh from the next academic year as part of the implementation of the National Education Policy. The curriculum would include practical sessions, self-assessment and skills related to skill development.

State Education Research and Training Council (SCERT) officials have sent a proposal to the state HRD Minister regarding the new syllabus. The syllabus was last changed in 2010. After ten years, the state government decided to update the curriculum. At a recent review meeting, Minister Adimilapu Suresh said that the school education department officials had been instructed to create a syllabus to suit the emerging policies.
Currently, students in grades 1 to 5 have mathematics and ecology and subjects such as English, Telugu and Hindi. But these new proposals will introduce self-assessment and skill development provisions for students at the end of each lesson, instead of special workbooks.
A senior official of the school's education department said, "Every time the national education policy changes, the state students' syllabus will also be changed. With the new education policy coming into effect from the next academic year, the changes will be finalized soon." The new syllabus is expected to be out of print by the end of January.
