Andhra Pradesh: Junior colleges reopening deferred

Guntur: The reopening of junior colleges for the academic year 2020-21, scheduled on June 1, is postponed due to Covid-19. The fresh date of reopening of junior colleges will be intimated later, said Board of Intermediate Education secretary K Rama Krishna while issuing orders to this effect on Saturday.

There is no clarity on the duration of the lockdown. Moreover, the Covid-19 cases are on the rise in the State.

The State government announced that it will reopen schools on August 3. The SSC Public Examinations will be conducted from July 10 to 15. After releasing the SSC Public Examination results, the admissions will start in junior colleges. Since it will take some more time, the BIE, will first decide the date for reopening of junior colleges for the senior Intermediate students.

It may be recalled that the BIE has already announced the reduction of the strength of the students per section for junior Intermediate to 40 from this academic year.

Meanwhile, the Intermediate public examinations spot valuation is expected to be completed by June 3 or June 4. The tabulation work requires at least 10 days. After that the BIE will release Intermediate first year results.

According to official sources, the BIE is planning to release Intermediate first year results in June second week and the Intermediate second year results between June 15 and 20.
