Chittoor: District Collector Dr N B Gupta stated that state government has decided to construct toilets in all primary, secondary and high-schools run by government in phased manner. Through video-conference from Collectorate here on Monday, the Collector held a meeting with Mandal Education Officers and PR Engineers with regard to progress in the construction of toilets at schools.

He expressed his serious concern over the lapses on the part of the departments in meeting the given targets in constructing the toilets , providing water facilities and renovation of school buildings. He further said that out of the target of 1065 toilets , only 57 toilets have come up during the last six months. ' "Despite repeated instructions , no progress has been witnessed in respect of constructing the toilets to the Government schools . Water facility is to be provided for 1,302 schools in the district.

Even in this, the officials could not achieve the targets,'' he stated." He also instructed that the electrification of all the Government schools should be completed before opening of schools.

The District Collector stressed that effective measures should be taken for conducting the Class Tenth examinations to be commenced by July 10th onwards. Veera Brahmam, Joint Collector ; Narasimha Reddy, DEO; Ramana Reddy , PO, SSA; Amaranath Reddy , SE, PR and others were present.
