Vijayawada: Hundreds of devotees thronged Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple at Dokiparru village of Gudlavalleru mandal in Krishna district on Thursday to witness the holy ritual Srinivasa Kalyanam, the celestial wedding of lord Sri Venkateswara.

The celestial marriage of Sridevi, Bhudevi and Sri Venkateswara Swamy was conducted under the supervision of the temple founding trustees P Venkata Krishna Reddy and his spouse Sudha Rani. The temple authorities made elaborate arrangements for providing smooth darshan to the devotees.

It has been a practice to perform the holy Srinivasa Kalyanam during Brahmotsavam as devotees consider it as privilege to witness the event, said a priest. Priests explained that witnessing the Srinivasa Kalyanam is auspicious for the devotees and it removes all ill-effects.

Thousands of devotees including PV Krishna Reddy and Sudha, PP Reddy and Rama, PV Subba Reddy and Sumalata, and P Veera Reddy and Vijayalakshmi were present at the celestial wedding celebrations.
