Visakhapatnam: Doing away with rote learning and encouraging 'smart learning,' Deeksha, an education services providing company, is gearing up to launch two junior colleges in Visakhapatnam from the ensuing academic year.

Sharing details with media at a conference held here on Friday, Deeksha Founder G Sridhar termed Visakhapatnam as a destination for education and has a lot of potential as far as education is concerned. With a network of 31 campuses, the institution has its presence in Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra, he added.

Studied in Visakhapatnam, Sridhar said he wanted to give back to the city in the form of providing skills to youths through the institution's holistic study environment which will be set up in NAD Junction and Dwarakanagar. "It is unfortunate that 80 per cent of graduates are not able to get absorbed in the workforce.

The primary focus of the institution is to provide smart ways to educate students and help them become job-ready," he said. He added the ability to think for themselves, ability to solve problems, confidence level and the ability to face failures were the three major areas Deeksha would be focusing on in honing the skills of students.

Sridhar highlighted that getting 75 per cent of score in academics was also considered to be a way less and some consider it a failure. He said this trend should change among students and the score-driven pattern of system should be replaced with passion-driven one. Founder of Deeksha Lalit Sridhar and academic head S Lakshmikanth Reddy also spoke.
