Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannabau held a review meeting with Agriculture Department officials regarding the crop damage in the district at his camp office here on Monday.
Kakinada: Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannabau held a review meeting with Agriculture Department officials regarding the crop damage in the district at his camp office here on Monday.
Agriculture Department joint director N Vijay Kumar explained to the minister that 7,163 hectares of paddy crop was severely damaged in the district.
In view of the Gulab cyclone as well as heavy rains, 4,453 hectares of crops were inundated. He said that 2,573 hectares were fully submerged. He said that 137 hectares of crop fell due to winds in the district.
Minister Kannababu directed the officials to create awareness among farmers to prevent further loss to the crops and take necessary steps regarding the issue.
He wanted the farmers to consult and interact with the officials concerned and advised them to follow the guidelines issued by the officials.
