Vijayawada: Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan on Saturday said Jyothi Surekha, who won bronze medal at 50th World Archery Championship held in Netherlands recently, brought laurels to the state with her achievements in the field at young age and the entire nation is proud of her achievements.

Felicitating Vennam Jyothi Surekha at Raj Bhavan, the Governor said the brave girl swam 5 kms across the river Krishna at the age of 4 years 11 months in 2001 and went on to establish a unique record as the "youngest swimmer" to cross the river.

He felicitated her with a shawl and memento at a function held at Durbar Hall at AP Raj Bhavan. The Governor wished Jyothi Surekha to win many more such championships in future. P Arjuna Rao, joint secretary to the Governor, members of Archery Association of Andhra Pradesh and others were present.
