Visakhapatnam: Official Language Commission Chairman and Lok Nayak Foundation president Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad has said the English medium in government schools has been introduced in the YSRCP manifesto as per the people's wish.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, he said the government has been implementing what was being promised before the elections and in tune with the people's wish. At the same time, he would appeal to the state government to continue Telugu medium as well.

The GO No: 81 that mandates introduction of Telugu as a subject will augur well for the Telugu language. With this, all the schools will initiate steps to introduce Telugu language as a compulsory subject, he opined.

He announced that Emesco, the publishing organisation, has been selected for the Lok Nayak Foundation Puraskar scheduled on January 18 in Visakhapatnam. Besides, Vignan Group of institutions Chairman Lavu Rathaiah would get the Lifetime Achievement Award, YLP added.
