Kakinada: TDP leader Jyothula Nehru demanded that the cancel the village secretariat examinations in view of the widespread irregularities that had taken place in the conduct of examinations.

Addressing a press conference at the TDP district office here on Sunday, Nehru said as the media brought out the evidence of irregularities in recruitment, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy who waxes eloquent on transparency and corruption-free governance, should prove his sincerity and order 'reverse notification' of examination process as it was not new for him as has been seen in the his 100-day rule so far.

The TDP leader also sought a detailed probe into boat capsize incident in the light of allegations by former Amalapuram MP G V Harsha Kumar and the doubts expressed by his party on the tragedy.

"The government should verify the call data records of Devipatnam sub-inspector who held up the boat for one hour, objecting to boat travel near the whirlpool as the flood flow was at 5.30 lakh cusecs in the river.

But someone reportedly called him and asked him to allow the boat to proceed. It should be identified who called the SI and why the police permitted the boat to ply. All those responsible for this tragedy should be exposed," said Nehru.

He said that when a boat accident occurred during TDP rule, then chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu took all steps to trace all the missing persons and extricated the boat from the river and also announced Rs 16 lakh ex gratia to each to the families of the deceased under different components. "But Jagan, then opposition leader, demanded Rs 25 lakh each to families and why now he is not paying Rs 25 lakh each to the victims' families," he asked.

Criticising the saga of Polavaram project reverse tendering, Nehru dismissed the claims of the government that it had saved Rs 58.38 crore saying the bidder who did not execute even one per cent work previously, submitted the bid with less amount this time.

Referring to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's statement that the AP government had agreed to reduce the height of Polavaram project, the TDP leader demanded Jagan not to agree to the request of TS as it would pose danger to the people of both Godavari districts.
