Kadapa: Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha said that the Amma Vodi scheme will benefit 2,68,076 mothers in the district. Apart from it, 32,007 got Rs 48.01 crore in the constituency.

On the occasion of distributing Rs 402.11 crore mega cheque to the beneficiaries, Amzath Basha said the Amma Vodi scheme was a brainchild of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. After introduction of the scheme, he said there was remarkable decrease in dropout rate of students among the government schools compared to last year.

"This is a good sign and people are sending their children to government schools instead of private educational institutions," he said. As part of promoting technical knowledge, the government has offered laptops to students instead of crediting benefit into the mothers' accounts.

Joint Collector Saikanth Varma (development) urged the parents to send their children to the government schools as nine kinds of infrastructure facilities are being provided in view of promoting quality education. He appealed to mothers to monitor their children closely while pursuing education.

Commissioner Lavanna, Intermediate Board Regional Joint Director Viswanath Naik, District Educational Officer Ravi and others were present.
