Kakinada: East Godavari District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy said that Ugadi festival will not be celebrated on a large scale on March 25. There will be no special poojas in the temples on the day. He suggested the people to celebrate the festival in their houses only due to Coronavirus.

As per the directions of the Collector, Suryaraopet Nukalamma Temple authorities cancelled the annual jatara in Kakinada amid Coronavirus scare. Every year the temple authorities conduct the jatara before Ugadi festival. The jatara would start at II Town, Suryaraopet with huge gathering of devotees and followed by a rally till Nukalamma temple.

Now, the temple authorities have been requesting the devotees not to come for darshan to prevent spread of Coronavirus.
