Kakinada: Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and District in-charge Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao said that 8 harbours and 4 fish landing centres would be developed with an estimated cost of Rs 3,000 crore.

Speaking to media here on Friday, he said in the country, Andhra Pradesh occupies top rank in the matter of aqua produce.

In order to help the aqua farmers during the Covid-19 crisis period, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to negotiate with Odisha and West Bengal for the export of aqua products to those states.

Stating that was a dearth of technical people in the aqua field, he said hence government was planning to establish a marine university in order to help to aqua farmers with the required skill and technical knowhow.
