The NCC and NSS units of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala organised a programme to mark ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ on the college premises on Friday.

Vijayawada: The NCC and NSS units of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala organised a programme to mark 'Kargil Vijay Diwas' on the college premises on Friday. The programme was presided by the college principal Dr M Nalini.

She said that paying tribute to the martyrs of Kargil war is a responsibility for the citizens of India. The chief guest of the programme M Srinivas Rao said that the Kargil war was started on May 3 and concluded on July 26 in 1999.

For 73 days the Indian forces fought against Pakistan. As many as 527 lost their lives and 1,100 wounded in the war. All the students maintained two minutes silence as mark of respect to the martyrs. NSS programme officer Dr K Sarala, T Nagarani, NCC cadets, NSS students and others were present on the occasion.
