Kurnool: District Collector G Veera Pandiyan on Wednesday said that there is no need to panic on spreading of corona virus and the district administration is taking all precautionary measures to prevent the disease.

The Collector conducted a review meeting with the officials of medical and other departmental heads at the Collector's conference hall on the deadly corona virus.

Stating that there was no need to panic on the corona virus, he said, "We are very fortunate that no such cases were registered in our state and district as well."

He instructed the officials concerned to create awareness among people on symptoms of disease and precautions to be taken on its prevention.

The Collector said two positive corona virus cases have been registered at Delhi and Hyderabad and added virus has spread to 70 countries across the globe, but we are very fortunate that not a single case was registered in the state or district.

As Hyderabad was very near to Kurnool and large number of people travels to either places, he said chances to affect with deadly virus was more likely and directed the officials create awareness about the preventive measures to be taken among the people.

He instructed the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr Rama Giddiah to arrange sufficient storage of medicines at the isolation wards. The collector also directed the DMHO to set up isolation wards at Nandyal and Adoni with adequate number of beds.

Doctors Sri Devi, Naga Jyothi, Sreedhar Rao, Rama D Giddaiah and Venkata Ramana, who have undergone special training at Tirupati on preventive and precautionary measures on corona virus have said that there was no need to panic. "Though the disease is spread over 70 countries, it claimed 2 per cent of deaths across the globe," they said.


The collector advised the people to checkup with doctors in case if they suffer with fever, continuous cough and cold symptoms and get treatment. He also suggested the people to wash their hands well with soap or detergent liquid.

He also suggested the people to maintain a safe distance from the people suffering from cold, cough and fever. He along with other officials visited the hospital and inspected the isolation ward set up for corona virus affected patients.
