Kurnool: A 60-years-old woman patient undergoing treatment for Covid-19 went missing for a few hours before she was found and brought to the Kurnool Government General Hospital quarantine centre on Thursday.

According to information, the woman who admitted to the hospital with Covid at around 2 am on Thursday, reportedly slipped out of the hospital and boarded a bus to her residence at Adoni. On the basis of address in the case sheet, hospital authorities alerted the police and RTC to find the woman.

Following an alert from the police, RTC officials checked every passenger and found she was travelling on Adoni-bound bus. She was interrupted at Pyalakurthi village and was again -shifted to Kurnool Government General Hospital in a ambulance.

District collector G Veera Pandiyan on learning of women patient escaping from the hospital became furious and ordered the hospital superintendent, Narendranath Reddy, to immediately suspend the persons responsible.

This is the second incident of hospital authorities being negligent in case of Covid cases. Earlier, the hospital hit the headlines over swapping of normal patient's body with Covid victim at the mortuary.

The collector formed a three-member committee to probe the goof up but so far, no action has been taken against anyone in this regard.
