Ongole: The roads, streets and junctions in Ongole town wore a deserted look from 10 am on Sunday. The public restricted themselves to homes voluntarily though the police and municipal authorities made necessary arrangements to obstruct the movement of the people.

Due to the continuous high incidence of positive cases for Coronavirus in the town, the Prakasam district administration ordered for the complete lockdown of Ongole town from Sunday morning. The collector Dr Pola Bhaskara ordered the Ongole Municipal Corporation and police to allow the movement of the public only between 7 am and 10 am for three hours and advised the public to send only one family member out to bring the essential commodities. The collector also ordered the RTC to not allow movement of buses also through the town and shut down the operations at the bus stand.

The police have arranged check posts at the entry points of the Ongole town at South Bypass, North Bypass, FCI godowns, Mangamoor road, Pernamitta and others and announced to impose fine of Rs 100 for people coming onto roads not wearing the mask in the relaxation time between 6 am to 9 am for purchasing commodities or using ATMs.
